High-Purity Closed-Loop Recycling of High-Performance Thermoplastic Polymers into Three Separate Layers (A/B/A)

The high-purity recycled material is an essential prerequisite for producing new high-quality polymers that can subsequently be used again in the manufacture of laminated safety glass.

We split (separate) special high-performance polymers!

We slice special high-performance resins!

Our MARUNAKA Splitting Technology for polymer recycling is among the most advanced technologies currently available on the global market.

The input material for recycling is the high-performance thermoplastic polymer PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral), supplied to the safety-glass industry on rolls as a three-layer A/B/A structure:

  • A) Outer PVB layer – PVB adhesion layer
  • B) Acoustic PVB core layer – acoustic PVB interlayer
  • A) Outer PVB layer – PVB adhesion layer

The total thickness of the three-layer material is approximately ~ 1.0 mm. Using our separation technology, the material is separated in two consecutive separation processes into its three individual layers, each approximately ~ 0.3 mm thick.

This precise separation process is essential for the high-purity close loop recovery of the different and valuable polymer components, enabling them to be returned to high-quality applications.

The high-performance thermoplastic polymers recovered through our MARUNAKA Splitting Technology provide the basis for high-purity closed-loop recycling. The recovered materials can subsequently be reused for the production of high-quality PVB products, including laminated safety glass (LSG) / shatter-resistant glass for the automotive industry, architecture and other applications.
